Facility & Equipment
Wise Owl Animal Hospital is a small animal clinic off the main road in Tamuning, Guam. Our hospital has six exam rooms, a boarding area, a prep room and surgical suite, an open treatment area, an employee lounge, three offices, a radiology room, an isolation room, and a fenced back area including outdoor runs.
Our equipment and facility are modern by any standard. Our in-house lab is comprised of Abaxis equipment for HM5, VS1, VS2, ISTAT, VSPRO, VUE, KetoSens, Vetscan HD miscroscope. We use Abaxis and Idexx for outside lab services such as histopathology (via DHL). We have most of the modern "toys" including, but not limited to:
- Digital radiographs
- SignalPet-Artificial intelligence review of all radiographs
- Tonometer
- Quality ophthalmoscopes/otoscopes
- Digicare multi-parameter patient monitoring x2
- Portable pulse ox and blood pressure monitor x2
- Bluetooth EKG,
- Capnograph
- Clarius ultrasound
- Class IV Companion Therapeutic Laser x2
- Dental scaling and polishing machine
- Portable oxygen generator and anesthetic machine
- Real-time microscope results are visible on monitors in each room
- Mac computers and laptops in all rooms
- Ezyvet - a paperless and cloud-based software system with further integrations and capabilities
Our anesthesia and analgesia protocols have been created based on AAHA and WSAVA guidelines. Every patient is provided multimodal analgesia where appropriate and a balanced anesthesia plan based on age and health parameters. We typically use propofol, butoprphanol, midazolam, Telazol-butorphanol-dexmedetomidine, lidocaine, bupivicaine, and buprenorphone. We use isoflorane as our inhalant.
There are no referral clinics on Guam. We use telemedicine and consultations as needed, but as things go, Wise Owl Animal Hospital is the place to go in the North Pacific for pet care. Please see "Practicing in Guam" for more on what we see and treat the most of.
